Naive Stupor - Into Reflective Soberness
Kim.E discusses how well-intentioned individuals often find themselves being naive due to their struggle to recognise emotional manipulation and deception in others. Their inherent desire to serve others makes them susceptible to exploitation, driven by a fear of rejection and a need for validation. Despite their efforts to please, they frequently attract those who take without giving back, perpetuating their sense of unworthiness. Personal growth and the realisation of self-worth come when the need to people-please diminishes, marking an emotional journey towards self-discovery.
“When we finally emerge from our naive stupor into a state of reflective soberness, we recognise our willingness to excessively binge on what serves others and not ourselves”

Overcoming People-Pleasing - Recognising Emotional Manipulation
I feel that good-hearted people have the tendency to be naive, not because of a lack of ingenuity, but because they find it so challenging to see the emotional manipulation and deception in others. Good-hearted people always want to be of service to others, which makes them easy bait, trustful and extremely gullible. They remain on the perpetual path of trying to make others happy and do their best to avoid adversity or confrontation.
Their willingness to binge on what serves others is grounded in their fear of rejection and is nurtured by a lack of self-worthiness. Their desire to people-please is their great need to be needed. Their silent hope is that, at some point, those they help will acknowledge their worthiness, choose to remain in their lives, and fill the emotional void of worthiness they feel. This seldom happens, mainly because they attract in the very people who wish to receive without giving, and only choose to remain in their life for as long as what they receive is worth their time or meets their expectations.
