Voicing Unpopular Opinions - Truth Amid Controversy
In this post, Kim.E discusses the repercussions of sharing her views on the Gaza genocide and the challenge of expressing opinions that go against collective narratives. She explores the idea that presenting diverse perspectives is essential for finding solutions to global issues. While her content may be controversial and provoke strong reactions, it aims to encourage cognitive awareness and open discourse, rather than pleasing superficial social media followers.
The Dilemma of Speaking Out: Balancing Perspectives on Controversial Issues
I recently āposted videos with my personal opinions concerning the genocide in Gaza, which I'm sure have sparked lots of judgment and perhaps even anger, especially amongst the many Israelis I know and am "friends" with on social media.
Were my videos created to upset Israelis? No, absolutely not! Did I understand that by providing my perspective, I would upset them. Absolutely, yes! But exactly that is the dilemma we face nowadays, isn't it? If I speak up for the Israelis, I automatically speak against the Palestinians, and if I speak up for the Palestinians, I will be insulting the Israelis. Just like the Covidiocy period where I spoke up against the toxic jabs, and annoyed or even insulted those who were pro-vaccines. Damned if I do and damned if I don't!
What most people would do is shut the fuck up and keep their opinions to themselves, but hasn't that behaviour led to atrocities in the past being birthed and tolerated for way too long until the breaking point was reached and the masses finally rose up in protest?
If we all had the courage to voice our opinions, especially if they went against the collective narrative, wouldn't we all learn a hell of a lot more from all the diverse perspectives compared to the scripted narrative mainstream media constantly vomits up and we intravenously consume as the truth and nothing but the bloody truth.
There is one thing I believe to be absolutely true and something Albert Einstein apparently said: "We cannot solve a problem with the same thinking that created it". It is only when we have numerous perspectives to a problem that a solution becomes possible. When we remain in the way of thinking that created the problem, and we add a lot of traumatic, negative emotions into the mix that enhance and worsen the problem, there cannot be a solution.
Even though my content may be controversial and not what superficial social media followers prefer to be entertained with or by, another perspective is important regardless of how triggering. People are afraid to share their opinions when that opinion goes against the general narrative because they fear the rejection they may receive, or they fear being seen as someone who thinks out of line.
I share my perspective to enhance cognitive awareness and to be a role model for those who wish to speak out of line and elaborate on topics that are sensitive and controversial. My perspective is my truth, which doesn't make it THE truth. This also means that the Israeli perspective is their truth, but not THE truth either. To me, truth is a culmination of each individual truth, which means that if there were really 8 billion people on Earth, the truth would be the compilation of 8 billion perspectives.
My content is not designed to please the listener, but rather to help the listener ask better questions and research different answers. If my content is triggering, then it obviously has more relevance to the person being triggered who may need to reflect on why they feel the way they do, why they judge, blame or wish to shoot the messenger, namely me.
